Waits Trio: Au goût français

Waits Trio (Liv Heym, violin, James Waldo, viola da gamba, and Erin Hanke, harpsichord), present a unique look at the French-Italian connection through Francois Couperin's hommage to Arcangelo Corelli in his masterful L'apothéose de Corelli. In this work Couperin acknowledges his debt to Corelli for bringing the trio sonata to France and he tells the story of how Corelli ascends Mount Parnassus and ultimately becomes a god. Waits Trio is joined by special guest Beth Wenstrom in the program which will also feature Corelli's Sonata No. 4 in F major and Couperin's Troisième Concert from Concerts Royeaux.

Two of ARTEK's acclaimed singers, mezzo-soprano Barbara Hollinshead and countertenor Ryland Angel perform sacred cantatas by the 17th century German composer Johann Rosenmuller, who was greatly influenced by early Italian composers. They will be accompanied by Cynthia Freivogel and Vita Wallace, violin; Motomi Igarashi, violone; Daniel Swenberg, theorbo; and Gwendolyn Toth, organ.
